| Common Names: Balud (Pilipino) Discoverer: Bonaparte, 1854 Category: VULNERABLE Habitat/Distribution: Luzon, Mindoro and Sibuyan Island Habitat / Behavior: male-head, neck, and mantle -light grey; wing coverts, back and rump - grey with black spots and a strong reddish purple gloss; primaries and tail a glossy dark green; throat is white; upper breast is light grey, followed by a white line; lower breast is dark grey; belly-dark chestnut. Female - differs from male by being somewhat darker with a lighter chestnut belly. For both bill is pink with a white tip and feet are pink, and iris is white with some pink. Threats: Hunting, habitat destruction due to logging Conservation Efforts/Measures:
