A short summary of the project is simply that we are creating a nature learning center at the bat roost at Subic Bay Freeport. The bat roost is one of the last large colonies of the endangered, endemic Golden Crowned Flying Fox in the Philippines (and the world). The 'Bat Learning Center' will be committed to helping educate people on the importance of our forest animals and their forest home, focusing first on bats. The Center will have an exhibit area, a movie room, a library, and a souvenir shop. It will be non-profit, and all funds generated by the Center will be used to sustain the Center and to support further nature education and conservation efforts. It is being created entirely by donations of funds and technical support from people who care about helping protect the Philippines' Natural Heritage.
