Comments: Comments: Type specimens collected from Lumbatan and Dansalan, Lake Lanao in 1932 (Ref. 280). Escudero et al. (Ref. 10885) reported that juveniles and mature individuals are found in all months of their sampling; with spawning peak between October and March. Roughly compose 50% of monthly catch of local fishermen from Feb. 1974 to June 1977. Caught by means of libut, operated like a purse seine and fishing is limited to the southern part of the lake. In 1980, still the most abundant species sold daily at Marawi City at relatively cheap price (Ref. 10885). Recorded in a 1982 survey (Ref. 12758). According to a 1990-91 market survey, sirang still ranked third among the lake's finfishes, where fishery is concentrated in the deeper portion, still at the southern part of the lake. An average of 5 to 10 kg of fish (P300-600) are taken in a night's

operation (Ref. 13448). A number of samples were caught during the 1994 expedition on the northeastern shore of the lake, from a 10-12 m wide stream with brown-colored waters (Ref. 10888).
