Philippine Pit Viper Timeresurus flavomaculatus  (Gray)

Description: Snout-vent length  of adults is about 450 to 800mm. The head is rather triangular and sharply differentiated from the neck, and the body appears thick and the tail relatively short and slender. The head is covered with smooth scales. The supraoculars, however are broken into the scales that are larger thatn the surrounding head scales. Scales are in 21 (rarely 19) rows at midbody. The ventrals range from 170 to 185 and the subcaudals from 58 to 72. The dorsal ground color is greenish, yellowish-green or bluish-green with a series of irregular dark blotches or crossbars on the dorsum (usually absent in T.f. mcgregorie). There is a distinct yellowish stripe or series of spots along the outer scale row (may be absent in T.f. halieus)
Distribution: Camiguin, Leyte, Luzon, Mindanao, Mindoro (subspecies flavomaculatus); Batan Island (subspecies mcgregorie); Polillo (subspecies halieus)
Habitat : It feeds on frogs, gekkos, tadpoles and fish. This species is arboreal, usually being found in bushes or small trees. It occurs in mangroves as well as typical forests.
