Puntius manguaensis

Distribution: Lake Lanao, Mindanao, the Philippines
Biology: Southeast Asia: endemic to Lake Manguao, northern Palawan, Philippines.

Diagnosis: Dorsal spines (total): 4-4; Dorsal softrays (total): 8-8. Preserved color faded yellowish brown, darker dorsally. 9 scales between nape & dorsal; 2.5-3.5 scales between ventral origin & lateral line. Snout with distinct hump; dorsal base with highly scaly sheath. Max. size: 14.0 cm TL

Common Name: no common name
Comments: Described from the type specimens, 9.4 and 14 cm, collected from Lake Manguao, near Taytay in northern Palawan (1913). Known only to be abundant in 1913, biting hooks and nibbling at fingers held underwater (Ref. 2929). Specimens collected in the 1989 survey from the lake (46 individuals) and from Manguao stream (3), about 2 km NW of the lake were not spearated into the two species (bantolanensis and manguaoensis) (Ref. 13489).
