(Pilipino) Discoverer: Gmelin, 1798 Category: VULNERABLE Status: ENDEMIC Habitat/Distribution:Wide spread in Asia including Philippines. Inland waters of Luzon and Mindanao Description / Behavior: L 53"; Almost all white; wings and tail grayer then anywhere else, primaries black; a brownish streak down back of neck. Also destinguished from other pelicans by the spotted upper mandible on the bill.Prefers freshwater, but maybe found along the coast in tidal marshes, usually in groups, Thought to have been resident in the Philippines but no but no breeding data have been recorded. Forages by swimming, dipping bill down into water to net fish.
