Pait (Puntius amarus)

Distribution: Endemic to Lake Lanao, Mindanao, the Philippines
Biology: Dorsal spines (total): 4-4; Dorsal softrays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft-rays: 5-5. Preserved color brownish dorsally, yellowish on sides & belly, silvery luster all over; lips & snout tip edged with black; fin rays dusky; scales above lateral line outlined by a band of minute black spots. Longitudinally radiating lines on scales. 9 scales between nape & dorsal; 2-2.5 scales between ventral origin & lateral line. Snout pointed.

Comments: Described from the type specimens collected from Dansalan, Lake Lanao, Mindanao (1910, 1922). Still present in the 1982 survey (Ref. 12758).
