Palawan Flying Fox Acerodon leucotis (Sanborn, 1950)

Philippines only; endemic to the Palawan Faunal Region. Recorded from Balabac (USNM), Busuanga (FMNH), and Palawan (FMNH)
Habitat : Uncertain, but probably moderately common in primary and secondary forest (Hoogstraal, 1951).
Threats: It's population has plummeted due to hunting and habitat destruction.
Interesting Information: Moderately common in the late 1940s. Part of the family of Pteropodidae or Fruit Bats.
Comments: Formerly placed in the genus Pteropus (Musser et al., 1982). IUCN: Vulnerale. CITES: Appendix II.
