| Common Names: palaka Category: CRITICALLY ENDANGERED Status: Endemic and rare Habitat/Distribution: Mt. Canlaon and Cuernos de Negros, Negros Island. The population on Panay appears to belong to this species. Habitat / Behavior: A medium-sized to large Platymantis with prominent ridges and scattered tubercles on its back. Disks of fingers broadly dilated. Third toe webbed to about midpoint between tubercles. microhabitats include arboreal ferns, leaf axils of crew pines and leaf axils of Arcaceae. Lays about 40 large unpigmented eggs that develop directly into froglets after 39+ days in arboreal ferns. Advertisement calls are distinct from those in group. Found at elevations of 500-1050 m. Threats: Habitat loss due to progressive harvesting of the forest trees.
