Category: CRITICALLY ENDANGERED Status: ENDEMIC and Rare Habitat/Distribution: Recorded only on Negros Island. All 27 specimens were taken from 2 caves in Barrio Tiyabanan and barrio Actin on Basay, Negros Oriental. Habitat / Behavior: A cave-dwelling, narrow disked species recorded only from 2 cavbes on southern Negros. Probably ventures out to the open forest. All the specimens were collected near the entrances of two moist limestone caves, in crevices and in pockets in the walls or in the floor. Threats: Habitat loss and degradation are possible influences on the limited range of this species. Over-exploitation due to tourism, limestone quarrying, and guano collection which affect the habitat of this frog. Interesting Information: Males range from 41.5 -46.9mm in size SVL while females from 52.8-60.5mm SVL. The Negros Cave Frog is closely related to the Island Forest Frog (another cave dwelling species). Conservation Efforts/Measures: Not known.
