| Habitat/Distribution: | Primary Forest in Luzon, Samar, Leyte and Mindanao. |
| Habitat / Behavior: | L 39" (92cm); Raptorial, monogamous. It is found in forested mountain valleys, gliding from tree to tree, seeking prey such as lemurs, mokeys and other smaller animals. It nests high up in the forks of large trees and lays one egg every two years, often around October to November. Call is a plaintive whistle waaaauu waaaauu or waaa-leee-ahh |

| Interesting Information: | National Bird of the Philippines. Less then 200 individuals alive in the wild today (2000). |
