Melodious Babbler Malacopteron palawanense

Habitat/Distribution: Balabac and Palawan
Habitat / Behavior: L 7 3/4";Noisy but shy and difficult to see; found singly, in small groups in tangles and vines in the middlestory or in the tops of low trees in lowland forest. It responds to imitations of it's song by moving closer but always staying under cover.

The song is a loud, rhythmic 5-note whistle dee too dee too daar with alternating low, high, low, high level notes. Easily imitated sounds very much like " I can see you there". (THF & RSK: P. Morris recording)
