| Common Names: Taringting (Pilipino) Discoverer: Category: RARE Habitat/Distribution: Uncommon. Malay peninsula, Sulawesi, Borneo, Sundas and the Philippines Description / Behavior: L 61/2" (15 cm); Smallest plover in the Philippines. Found only on isolated sandy beaches, and rarely elsewhere either alone or in pairs. Breeding recorded in May. Nest is a shallow scrape in the sand above high water. One clutch consists of 3 eggs, each pale cream heavily marked with brown and lavander. The call is a soft chit (Sonobe and Usui) or a soft whit or twik (Hayman et al.).
