Advanced Merry Christmas Greetings to all of you and your families!
Just back from Baguio! Had a one week vacation stint with the family - it was really cold for me (that's because I am very thin skinned hehehe). It seems that on the way there - alot of the growth on the mountains are dwindling - reminder that next year - 2002 is Year of the Mountains (read about it in a new article). Counted only 11 waterfalls - maybe because it isn't rainy season and alot of the waterways are dried up. More bridges though and on Kennon road a couple of landslides and alot of roadcut (meaning part of the road has fallen down the mountain), a good thing though Naguilian Road and Marcos Hi-way are in better condition. The pine and cypress trees in Baguio have finally been about to recover - there was a time when Baguio City seemed kind of barren. Only saw 2 birds though - our everyday maya and a hawk (no telling what kind it was since I forgot to bring Dr Bob's Guide to Philippine birds Book - silly me!)
Thanks to Arvin Diesmos for sending me the much awaited listing of people in the conservation and EESP world. Be it known that the EESP has been added to the Only-Yellow-Pages Global Online Directory with the help of Sally Hardaker - Thanks Sally!
Great news! Since the installation of the anti-snatching info and pictures script - we have had alot of email traffic requesting permission to use information and pictures - thanks to the following individuals who wrote to ask permision: Dian Pascual (for research purposes), Charise Planas (a project in her Natural Science subject), Miguel Fajardo - Spain (archive use), Hugo Claessen - Belgium (Amphibians of the World), Wolfgang Schieler - Austria (Reptile Lexicon), Giancarlo Urrea - College of Saint Benilde, Manila (report of endemic Philippine animals: Tamaraw), MU Fernandez (project of her daughter), Brady - 7th grade (report of the Mindoro Freshwater Crocodile), Angelli Centeño (a plate on the redevelopment of Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife, QC), Honey Santos (picture of the Dinagat Cloud Rat), Grizell Ledres (project in school - request for info/pics), Chay Prado - 5th grade Miriam College, QC (assignment), Zoe Perryman (project on environmental issues), and Jefferson Villacorte - ENE31-TFY, UP Diliman (for use in research).
I still need all the data (meaning pictures, updated information, sounds etc) I can get, but also your comments and observations would be very much welcome, you can write to me at this email address: grng0ddess@yahoo.com. I do so enjoy reading your comments and questions.
