Falcated Ground-babbler  (Ptilicichla falcata)

Category: ENDANGERED
Status: ENDEMIC
Habitat/Distribution: Lowland forest upto 800m in Palawan and Balabac
Habitat / Behavior: L 7 1/2";  Secretive understorey bird where it walks and hops on or near the ground scrambling around dense forest thickets and fallen trees, up to at least 800 m. Responds aggressively to playback of it's call. Reported to breed in January.

Song is a loud, conspicuous, clear whistle consisting of 2-3 notes puuuuu-it chee-aair or puuuu-it chee-aair puuuu-a, interspered with a quite babbling notes and repeated almost continuously often for several minutes (THF & RSK: N. Redman recording)
