| Common Names: Negros Naked-backed
fruit Bat Category: EXTINCT Distribution: Philippines only; endemic to Negros (FMNH) and Cebu (DMNH) Islands. Habitat : Formerly common in lowland forest from sea level to 800 m in southern Negros Island, where it roosted exclusively in caves (Heaney and Heideman, 1987; Rabor, 1986; Utzurrum, 1992). Status: Believed to have become extinct in 1970s as a result of the combination of forest destruction, disturbance by guano miners, and hunting (Heaney & Heideman, 1987; Utzurrum, 1992).
