| Common Names: Discoverer: Category: VUNERABLE Habitat/Distribution: Breeds in western Alaska, winters on a Pacific Islands from Hawaii south to the Fiji Islands,. accidental in the Philippines - Balabac, Palawan Island (once on 29 April 1982) Habitat / Behavior: L 17"; Usually found on exposed mud and coral flats and in grassy marshes usually in small groups. Elsewhere it has been recorded on remote islands foraging between nesting sea birds often stealing eggs, even from under incubating birds. Calls a long whistle chi-u-it similar to the Grey Plover, a short rippling whistle whe-whe-whe-whe, a ringing whee-wheeoo (Hayman et al.).
