| Common Names: Discoverer: Category: VULNERABLE Habitat/Distribution: This species is poorly known and although once considered to occur in the lowlands, it seems to be confined to mid-montane and lower mossy forest from 1000 - 2000 m where it associates to some degree with streams. Range: Mindanao (Mt. Apo, Busa, Hilong-hilong, Kitanglad and Pasian) Description / Behavior: L 11". Alone or in pairs, perches in dark recesses in the understory feeding on insects, snails and crustaceans as well as small vertibrates. Cocks in tail when it calls. Birds with enlarged gonads have een taken from March to May. Calls are varied including a single loud 2-syllable ki-aw or te-u lasting about 0.5 sec and repeated at about 3-sec intervals often given in a duet with another individual. (THF & RSK: P.
